In addition to citizens from the newly included countries, the tourist visa has been extended to seven other categories.
Saudi Arabia has made it easier for people from three new countries to get electronic visas (e-visas). Now, citizens of these countries can apply for their visas online or get them when they arrive in Saudi Arabia. This change means that now there are 66 countries whose citizens can get these visas. The new countries are Barbados, the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and Grenada.
Not only citizens of these new countries, but also residents of the US, the UK, and the EU can now get tourist visas. Also, people who have visit visas from the US, UK, and the Schengen area can get these visas.
Additionally, people from GCC countries can get this visa too. This visa can be used for various reasons like tourism, visiting family and friends, going for Umrah pilgrimage, and attending events, exhibitions, and conferences.
Saudi Arabia has also introduced transit visas for travelers who use Saudia and flynas airlines. With this visa, travelers can stay in Saudi Arabia for 96 hours before continuing their journey.
The Ministry of Tourism started the visit visa in September 2019 to show off Saudi Arabia’s tourist attractions, involve visitors in cultural experiences, and encourage international interaction.
